Job Description

About CUR8

The science is clear: even if we do everything else right on reducing emissions, the world needs to remove 200 Gigatonnes of carbon from the atmosphere by 2050.

We have decades of experience working with the leading climate change actors, which we combine with deep technical and business expertise to build the carbon removals industry faster than ever before.

We partner with providers of the highest quality carbon removals, and we don’t stop there; developing carbon markets creates an unprecedented opportunity for the creation of innovation, value, equity, and jobs across the world. We believe the supply side of carbon removals is the biggest opportunity for our business and for the world.

We’re systemic thinkers. Together with our sister NGO, Rethinking Removals, we collaborate with the entire carbon removals ecosystem, across suppliers, buyers, policymakers, and narrative setters, together to develop and invest in future projects to make sure there are enough carbon removals in 1, 5, 10 and 25 years time.

About our team

We’re a small but mighty team; between us, we’ve built, scaled, and sold successful tech businesses, advised governments on net zero, shaped global narratives at Nature, New Scientist, and the BBC, led startup support and investments at Google, invested in and built carbon removal startups. Oh, and done the TED talk about carbon removals (have you seen it yet?)

Requirements

About the role

  • You will work from the London office (Liverpool Street) 3 days a week
  • You will effectively support all administrative arrangements needed to facilitate the efficient working of the CEO and the executive team
  • You will support business operations as required, from events, carbon operations, travel and accommodation arrangements, sales activities and beyond
  • You will work very closely with our marketing and events team, extending our reach and supporting our presence at events
  • You will think as big as if we were already a trillion-dollar business, but you'll do it creatively to match an early-stage startup's team and budget
  • You will stay up to date with the latest news about carbon removal, helping us build a community of editorial collaborators and colleagues
  • Contribute to an effective, fun, impact-driven culture, where everyone has an opportunity to lead

About the Candidate

  • A great candidate will have a passion for startups and sustainability and a desire to develop in that direction
  • Previous experience with managing and executing tasks, highly organised with an ability to work with different stakeholders, internal and external
  • A proactive self-starter and team player
  • You have exceptional oral and written communication skills with the ability to simplify complex or technical content in a concise and accessible way
  • You are a people person - you enjoy working with clients and partners, solving problems, and building long-lasting, trusted professional relationships
  • You’re happy to lead and take initiative in an ambitious, fast-paced, and ambiguous environment
  • You thrive in both competition and collaboration; within the team, with the freelancers/contractors you manage, and with the wider ecosystem.
  • You understand key climate change /sustainability themes; experience in climate is valuable but not essential. We need you to care about the cause though!

Benefits

About the perks

  • With a little bit of luck, we’ll save the planet (pretty good, isn’t it)
  • But seriously. Every time we transact, the world gets a little better
  • We’ll treat you with dignity; across competitive compensation and a culture that’s inclusive for parents and respectful of boundaries (no 3am emails!)
  • We share a lovely bright office in Shoreditch/Liverpool Street with abundant free coffee and snacks. Most of us are office-based three days a week and let you work from anywhere two days a week
  • Worried about your personal carbon footprint? We’ll make a meaningful contribution to removing it.
  • We’re building a collaborative culture that celebrates our differences and are committed to creating an inclusive environment for all employees.
