Job Description

Commonwealth Fusion Systems (CFS) has the fastest, lowest cost path to commercial fusion energy.

CFS collaborates with MIT to leverage decades of research combined with groundbreaking new high-temperature superconducting (HTS) magnet technology. HTS magnets will enable compact fusion power plants that can be constructed faster and at lower cost. Our mission is to deploy these power plants to meet global decarbonization goals as fast as possible. To that end, CFS has assembled a team of leaders in tough tech, fusion science, and manufacturing with a track record of rapid execution. Supported by the world’s leading investors, CFS is uniquely positioned to deliver limitless, clean, fusion power to combat climate change. To implement this plan, we are looking to add dedicated people to the team who treat people well, improve our work by adding multifaceted perspectives and new ways of solving problems, have achieved outstanding results through a range of pursuits, and have skills and experience related to this role.

Commonwealth Fusion Systems (CFS) is at the forefront of advancing commercial fusion energy through cutting-edge technology and innovation. We are in search of a Sr. Mechanical Quality Engineer to play a pivotal role in supporting our HTS Magnet production and SPARC Project towards achieving our mission objectives. This role is ideal for a dynamic individual who combines a solid foundation in mechanical engineering with a hands-on expertise in quality engineering practices. The successful candidate will be instrumental in shaping the quality landscape of our manufacturing processes, from defining quality requirements for intricate designs to ensuring the seamless execution of those standards in the production of our first-of-a-kind HTS Magnets.

In this capacity, the Sr. Mechanical Quality Engineer will work closely with Design, R&D, Supplier Quality, and Manufacturing teams. Through a detailed-oriented and collaborative approach, they will establish and enforce quality assurance processes that directly contribute to CFS’s mission. This role is designed for a proactive problem-solver ready to tackle complex challenges, improve operational efficiencies, and play a key role in achieving our vision of providing clean, sustainable energy solutions.
