Job Description

CIMMYT is a core CGIAR Research Center, a global research partnership for a food-secure future, dedicated to reducing poverty, enhancing food and nutrition security, and improving natural resources.

CIMMYT is seeking a dynamic, with attention to the details, leader, and service-oriented professional for the position of Global Warehouse Manager, to be part of the Business Services Department.

The position will be based at CIMMYT headquarters in Texcoco, State of Mexico, near Mexico City.

  • Specific duties:
  • Lead and optimize warehouse operations, ensuring compliance with organizational policies and safety regulations. Manage the receiving, warehousing, distribution, and maintenance operations to ensure efficient workflow.
  • Develop and implement inventory control systems that optimize stock levels, reduce waste, prevent stockouts, and ensure accurate tracking. Conduct regular inventory audits and reconciliation activities.
  • Plan, forecast, and manage the warehouse operational budget. Track expenses, analyze variances, and proactively implement corrective measures to ensure cost efficiency.
  • Oversee logistical processes including inbound and outbound shipping, ensuring timely and accurate product deliveries. Work closely with procurement and fleet teams to streamline processes.
  • Develop, implement, and continuously, improve warehouse safety standards, ensuring full compliance with EHS policies. Lead periodic safety training and ensure a safe working environment.
  • Champion the adoption of warehouse management technologies (WMS, RFID, barcoding) to enhance accuracy, productivity, and reporting capabilities.
  • Apply Lean methodology and best practices to continually enhance warehouse productivity and service quality. Regularly review warehouse workflows and implement improvements.
  • Hire, train, mentor, and supervise warehouse personnel, building a high-performing team focused on continuous improvement and operational excellence.

Requirements

  • Education: Bachelors in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, or related; master’s preferred
  • Certifications: Warehouse management certification desirable
  • Experience: 5+ years in warehouse/logistics management, preferably international
  • Languages: English (B2 or higher), Spanish native.
  • IT Skills: Advanced Microsoft Office, Warehouse Management Systems (WMS), ERP (Dynamics AX preferred)
