Job Description

It is entrusted with fostering improved quantity, quality, and dependability of production systems and basic cereals such as maize, wheat, triticale, sorghum, millets, and associated crops through applied agricultural science, particularly in the Global South, through building strong partnerships. This combination enhances the livelihood trajectories and resilience of millions of resource-poor farmers, while working towards a more productive, inclusive, and resilient agrifood system within planetary boundaries. CIMMYT is a core CGIAR Research Center, a global research partnership for a food-secure future, dedicated to reducing poverty, enhancing food and nutrition security, and improving natural resources.

CIMMYT is seeking a proactive, with leadership, attention to the detail and customer service-oriented professional for the position of Drivers Coordinator to work in the Business Services Department of CIMMYT.

The positions will be based at CIMMYT headquarters in Texcoco, near Mexico City, (45 minutes from Mexico City).

Specific duties:

  • Supervise and manage a team of at least 10 drivers, ensuring compliance with routes, delivery times, and service quality standards.
  • Implement methodologies to optimize routes and reduce operational costs.
  • Strict adherence to communication mechanisms and constant reporting.
  • Apply creative thinking to solve problems in daily operations.
  • Establish and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) for the fleet and assigned personnel.
  • Control and report operational expenses, vehicle maintenance, and customer billing.
  • Manage the administrative and operational documentation of vehicles and drivers.
  • Develop training and continuous development plans for drivers.
  • Ensure compliance with traffic and safety regulations.
  • Act as a liaison between operations and management, providing periodic reports and proposing improvements.
  • Implement effective tools for vehicle control, maintenance, inspections, cleaning, and personnel management.

Requirements

Required academic qualifications, skills and attitudes:

  • Bachelor's degree in Logistics, Administration, Transportation, or a related field (preferred).
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in fleet coordination and operational personnel management.
  • Bilingual in Spanish and English (B2).
  • Proven leadership, decision-making, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to handle conflicts and foster a productive work environment.
  • Proficiency in technological tools and fleet management systems.
  • Advanced Excel skills and data analysis capability.
  • Knowledge of transportation regulations and road safety standards.
  • Experience working in a multicultural environment.
  • Proficiency in ERP or TMS (Transportation Management Systems).
  • Preferred certification in logistics, transportation, or continuous improvement (e.g., Lean, Six Sigma).
