Job Description
CIMMYT is a cutting-edge, non-profit, international organization dedicated to solving tomorrow’s problems today. It is entrusted with fostering improved quantity, quality, and dependability of production systems and basic cereals such as maize, wheat, triticale, sorghum, millets, and associated crops through applied agricultural science, particularly in the Global South, through building strong partnerships. This combination enhances the livelihood trajectories and resilience of millions of resource-poor farmers, while working towards a more productive, inclusive, and resilient agrifood system within planetary boundaries. CIMMYT is a core CGIAR Research Center, a global research partnership for a food-secure future, dedicated to reducing poverty, enhancing food and nutrition security, and improving natural resources.
CIMMYT is seeking a proactive, with leadership, attention to the detail and customer service-oriented professional for the position of Global Procurement Manager to work in the Business Services Department of CIMMYT.
The positions will be based at CIMMYT headquarters in Texcoco, near Mexico City, (45 minutes from Mexico City).
Specific duties:
- Supplier Management & Cost Savings.
- Source key suppliers – often on an international basis, negotiate and manage key contracts and build key relationships with both suppliers and the internal teams. Deliver on organizational’ cost savings.
- Procurement team management & performance monitoring.
- Manage the procurement team efficacy, compliance and performance (front desk, buyers and back office) through a KPI dashboard. Coordinates the following team activities.
- Ensure compliance with CIMMYT procurement and finance policies and procedures and recommend improvement in internal controls and act as ambassador to cascade down policies and procedures within the programs and amongst all regional offices.
- Supports the organization with overall procurement planning and monitoring.
- Rolls out an efficient procurement process globally and make recommendations for policy and procedures changes when deemed necessary.
- Procurement capacity building at regional offices: Capacity Building of procurement knowledge of admin staff at the regional offices. Setting clear boundaries of the responsibilities of the Regional Offices staff in Africa and Asia.
- Develop recommendations for automation of procurement processes through the ERP.
- Developing procurement strategies that are resourceful and cost-effective.
- Controlling the procurement budget and promoting a culture of long-term saving on procurement costs.
- Improvement operation areas - CIMMYT IMPEX area establishment.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree or Master’s degree in Business administration, International Business or similar.
- 6 to 8 years of relevant experience in positions of leadership within the procurement environment.
- Knowledge of Import and Export schemes.
- Advanced Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook); ERPs.
- Advanced level of English (C1)
- The candidate must demonstrate the following competencies: teamwork, excellent communication skills, attention to the details, organization and leadership.
