CIMMYT is seeking a proactive, with attention to the detail and energetic professional for the position of Data Management EBS-Wheat Specialist to work on the Global Wheat Program of CIMMYT.

The position will be based at CIMMYT headquarters in Texcoco, State of Mexico, near Mexico City.

Specific duties:

Provide technical and data management leadership for EBS implementation by bread and durum wheat breeding groups in CIMMYT Global Wheat Program.

In collaboration with the EBS-Data Management Team, provide GWP with the appropriate EBS implementation plans and timelines for running specific functionalities.

Provide technical support for testing new EBS functionalities and recommend and assist with conducting quality control to validate the results of these actions.

Contribute to implementing a GWP breeding IT roadmap.

Coordinate activities with EBS and data management team members, including training of GWP staff, and follow-up on issues raised by GWP users for improvement of features.

Help ensure that high quality EBS user resources are available in Spanish -as needed by the GWP.

Contribute to the preparation and organization of general breeding data.

Perform any other tasks as assigned by their supervisor.

Requirements

Required academic qualifications, skills and attitudes:

  • Have a good knowledge of wheat breeding activities and EBS functionalities.
  • Have a good understanding of IWIS and Excel macros, to assist with the complete transition from these systems to EBS.
  • Possess good oral and written Spanish communication skills.
  • Good English communication skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills (teamwork, attention to the detail, critical thinking and innovation).
