Job Description

The International Maize and Wheat Improvement Center, known by its Spanish acronym, CIMMYT®, is a not-for-profit agricultural research for development organization with partners in over 100 countries.

CIMMYT is seeking a dynamic, self-motivated, and service-oriented professional for the position of Network Engineering and Security Senior Specialist to monitor the network and digital infrastructure capacity and performance, ensuring the security and efficiency of the digital infrastructure.

Specific Duties:

  • Provide technical support to CIMMYT users in relation to the network architecture, infrastructure and connectivity.
  • Analyze the network configuration and performance with optimization and/or troubleshooting purposes.
  • Install, configure and maintain existent and new network devices, like switches, routers, access points, firewalls, antennas, etc., including the configuration of security rules/policies in relevant devices.
  • Keep the firmware of all network and security devices up-to-date, CIMMYT-wide.
  • Manage platforms in place to monitor devices and systems of the CIMMYT-wide network.
  • Create and update network documentation, including network diagrams.
  • Propose new network and security technological solutions to enhance the quality and performance of the current setup.
  • Collaborate in the development, implementation and testing of networking and digital infrastructure projects, including the implementation of temporary solutions, like connectivity set-ups for events in CIMMYT.
  • Coordinate staff under the supervision of this position to ensure a daily efficient operation.
  • Provide trainings related to other CIMMYT colleagues in relation to the network and the digital infrastructure.
  • Any other related activities as requested by the supervisors of the position.

Requirements

Required academic qualifications, skills, and attitudes:

  • Degree in Computerstystems engineer, IT, Engineering in Computer Science or related.
  • 4 to 6 years experience in similar position.
  • Experience in monitoring services (solarwind, cloudfire, manageengine)
  • Manage IT services (storage, servers, endpoints)
  • Experience in Firewalls (PaloAlto, Sonicwall, Fortinet
  • Knowledge in Cybersecurity
  • Advanced level of English (written and conversational). English will be tested and candidate should score a minimum of C1 on CEFR.
  • The selected candidate must exhibit the following competencies: Organization, Critical thinking, Teamwork, Client Orientation, Problem Solving decision making, Negotiation and Conflict resolution
