CIMMYT is seeking a dynamic, self-motivated and service-oriented professional for the position of Agricultural Development Officer to be part of the CSISA-MEA project.

This position wil be based in Cox’s Bazar, Bangladesh

Duties and Responsabilities:

  • Conduct needs assessments for selected districts under the CSISA-MEA work area.
  • Assist the supervisor in developing detailed implementation plans for specific field offices and implement all result-oriented targets with the supervisor's direct concern within the stipulated time.
  • Develop new farmer adoption systems and models, extending different agricultural technologies and systems according to respective field conditions and needs.
  • Conduct demonstrations, adaptive trials, field days, and coordinate participatory trials on agricultural crops and mechanization in collaboration with government/NGO research institutions and other multisectoral stakeholders.
  • Conduct training need assessments and provide formal and informal training to NGO/CBO partners, farmers, and service providers in coordination with the CSISA-CIMMYT Cropping Systems Agronomist and Training and Outreach expert.
  • Interact with and organize meetings with stakeholders and partners to discuss, streamline, and assist them in implementing field activities.
  • Facilitate the formation of partnerships with a wide range of clients from public and private sector organizations, including farmers' groups.
  • Perform any other job-related duties as instructed by the Cropping Systems Agronomist of CSISA-CIMMYT and other hub-based CSISA scientists as needed.
  • Assist in field research activities, including maintaining agronomic, machinery, and survey-focused research data in collaboration with farmers, agricultural service providers, and the public and private sectors.
  • Coordinate participatory trials on agricultural machinery, crop, and resource-conserving crop management in cereal-based systems as needed.
  • Collect and analyse monitoring data as required by the project.
  • Prepare activity reports based on need and assist the supervisor in compiling project reports.
  • Help establish partnerships with a wide range of clients, including local service providers, farmers, NGOs, private and public sector organizations, and scientists, to evaluate and deliver agricultural machinery technologies appropriate to the diverse cropping systems and socioeconomic environments of Southern Bangladesh.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in Agriculture.
  • At-least 3-4 years of experience working in NGO/ UN /CGIAR/ research organizations.
  • Experienced working in multi-cultural organisations.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational abilities.
  • Excellent writing and speaking skills in both Bangla and English.
  • Ability to keep updated with latest developments and open to learn anything new.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite, particularly Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and manage multiple priorities.
  • The selected requires the following competencies: Team Leadership, Negotiation, Resolution, Client Orientation, Critical Thinking, Problem Solving.

Benefits

The position is for Bangladesh Nationals for an initial fixed-term contract of 1-year with 3 months probationary period, which further employment is subject to performance and the continued availability of funds.
