We are seeking a motivated and talented Simulation Engineer to join our dynamic team and spearhead the simulative design work of our groundbreaking wind-powered ship class. In this role, you will collaborate with a dynamic group of engineers, naval architects, and researchers to develop cutting-edge systems for our wind-powered ship class.

Your tasks

  • You will be responsible for initiating, performing, verifying and presenting the results of complex simulations and calculations.
  • Define boundary conditions, model and perform calculations in line with product development objectives.
  • Develop and implement simulation models for various aspects of our wind-powered ships with a focus on hydrodynamics and aerodynamics (CFD) as well as structural analysis (FEM)
  • Work closely with the mechanical design and control team to translate simulation results into concrete design improvements of mechanical systems and control models.
  • Identify optimization opportunities and make recommendations for further action through detailed analysis of simulation results.
  • Assist in validating simulation results by comparing them with real-world test data.
  • Assist in the preparation of technical documentation, including design specifications, CAD models, and engineering drawings.
  • Generate detailed work plans, schedules, and budgets for project activities.
  • Work closely with our CTO, providing updates on technical progress, achievements, and any potential roadblocks.
  • Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Naval Architecture, Physics or related field. PhD preferred.
  • More than 5 years of professional experience as a simulation engineer in the shipping or aerospace industry. Experience with hydrofoils is a massive plus.
  • Prior hardware start-up experience is a plus.
  • Proficiency in simulation software (e.g. Ansys).
  • Solid skills in CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks)
  • Strong problem-solving skills and a hands-on, results-oriented approach.
  • Motivated, independent and reliable way of working.
  • Passion for sustainability and environmental responsibility.
  • Ability to adapt and thrive in a fast-paced startup environment.
  • Fluency in English with excellent communication and interpersonal skills with Interest in interdisciplinary collaboration in a young and dedicated team.
  • Proficient German skills are a plus.
  • Kitesurfing, paragliding or sailing experience is a plus.
