Job Description

Battolyser Systems is looking to recruit a Electrode Development Specialist

You are part of the electrode development team within the Research team. This multi-disciplinary group of research scientists and engineers is responsible for Multiphysics simulations, validation, materials research, component, single cell and stack testing for current and future Battolyser®designs. This includes the development of novel hybrid battery/electrolyzer electrodes.


In consultation with the Electrode Development Team Lead, you are responsible for defining research lines, preparing electrodes, designing experiments, executing the tests and providing feedback on the findings. As a member of the team, you will collaborate in a project-based manner within the broad technology organization (Stack Design team, Production Engineering and Supply Chain). You will define research and development directions for future electrode concepts and feedback research findings.


You will work in an ever-changing dynamic environment but can expect to be working on the following tasks:

  • Translate product design challenges into electrode development projects: i.e. define requirements/research inputs for selected research topics based on overall system/product targets, formulate research targets and plan, design experiments.
  • Take on the technical lead and/or project lead role in electrode development projects.
  • Give input to be part of innovation processes to create new concepts and ideas.
  • Identify partners which can assist in accelerating us reaching our goals. Define a clear scope of work for partners and accurately track their progress.
  • Guide and assist laboratory testing and ensure high quality of results.
  • Ensure good and fast feedback to the different teams involved in the research projects.
  • Take up relevant health and safety responsibilities: review work instructions/standard operating procedures, review/assist with risk assessments, stimulate others to be vigilant at all times.
  • Support, develop and grow other members of the research team.
