Job Description

Archer is an aerospace company based in San Jose, California building an all-electric vertical takeoff and landing aircraft with a mission to advance the benefits of sustainable air mobility. We are designing, manufacturing, and operating an all-electric aircraft that can carry four passengers for 100 miles at speeds of up to 150 mph while producing minimal noise.

What you’ll do:

  • Support vehicle design through all phases of the project, from conceptual design to certification
  • Define and document vehicle design load cases per FAA certification requirements
  • Collaborate with FAA for novel load conditions and analytical approaches
  • Build loads databases for airframe structure design and aeroelastic analysis
  • Develop test plans and collaborate with Structure and Hardware teams to gather experimental data to validate loads and correlate to models
  • Support certification component testing (fatigue, strength, stiffness)

What you need:

  • BS / MS in Aerospace Engineering or related fields
  • 4+ years of experience with BS, or 2+ years of experience performing loads analysis for fixed-wing vehicles and/or rotorcraft
  • Experience with NASTRAN, PATRAN, or equivalent FEM modeling tools
  • Strong mathematical background with a deep understanding of fixed-wing and rotorcraft aerodynamics, structures, flight dynamics, and vehicle performance
  • Experience developing and evaluating ground load conditions
  • Experience with static and dynamic loads derivation for both fixed-wing vehicles and/or rotorcraft. Experience with eVTOL vehicles is a plus.
  • Proficiency Excel / Google Sheets and MATLAB scripting
  • Strong technical, written, and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work in groups and individually
  • Experience in a fast-paced design environment

Bonus Qualifications:

  • Familiarity with aircraft and rotorcraft certification standards (14 CFR Part 23, 25 and 27)
  • Prior experience working on aerospace certification program
  • Experience in developing loads for eVTOL vehicles for combined fixed wing and rotor-borne flight conditions
  • Experience with structural dynamics and vibratory loads
  • Flight test or component test experience
  • Experience with rotor dynamics or rotor loads analysis

We drive a pay-for-performance culture and reward performance that supports the Company’s business strategy. For this position we are targeting a base pay between $122,880 - $153,600. Actual compensation offered will be determined by factors such as job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
