Job Description

Archer is an aerospace company based in San Jose, California building an all-electric vertical takeoff and landing aircraft with a mission to advance the benefits of sustainable air mobility. We are designing, manufacturing, and operating an all-electric aircraft that can carry four passengers for 100 miles at speeds of up to 150 mph while producing minimal noise.

Who we are:

Archer’s Motor-Gearbox Team is looking for a highly motivated and talented individual to bring on as a Co-op Intern. The role is focused on Design Engineering activities supporting the Electric Engine Program.

What you’ll do:

  • You will work on the design of rotors, stators, gearbox assemblies and auxiliary components.
  • Assisting team members in developing designs in NX.
  • Apply design for manufacturing concepts to create designs that are cost effective and easy to fabricate at rate.
  • Work closely with cross-functional teams to assist with deliverables.
  • Support engine development test and qualification test activities.

What you need:

  • Rising Senior in Undergraduate Program or Masters student at accredited college or university in an engineering or science discipline.
  • Strong fundamentals in Physics, Mathematics and Mechanics of Solids.
  • Ability to learn and adapt within an ambiguous environment.
  • Excellent written, verbal communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Hands-on experience with tools.
  • Eagerness to learn, a positive attitude, Get-It-Done attitude

Bonus Qualifications:

  • Experience as part of a team in SAE Collegiate Design Competitions
  • Knowledge of Siemens NX and Simcenter, Matlab
  • Knowledge of Atlassian Suite (JIRA/Confluence)
  • Familiarity with small passenger aircraft or helicopters

Additional Details:

  • Program duration will be approximately 6-12 Months starting March 2024
  • Must be able to work a full time schedule (approximately 40 hours per week) at our office location.

Actual compensation offered will be determined by factors such as job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
