Job Description

AM Batteries is seeking a VP of Engineering to work with a highly experienced team to industrialize the next generation lithium-ion battery manufacturing equipment. The successful incumbent will have extensive experience working on engineering design, development and production of capital equipment and engineering management. The candidate should have worked for an industrial equipment OEM serving the coating and/or converting industry. The ideal candidate will have demonstrable successes in launching innovative processing systems in industrial equipment OEM with emphasis in roll to roll coating and calendaring equipment for the LIB manufacturing or a parallel precision coatings industry.

The VP of Engineering is expected to provide leadership in engineering design, development, engineering management, and new production introduction (NPI) of solvent free electrode manufacturing equipment/ production lines and support business development.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as a key member of the management team that sets the company’s strategic direction and formulates both long and short ranges plans, policies, programs, and objectives.
  • Lead and develop an engineering team as the company scales.
  • Lead and manage product roadmap, from R&D phase to final product manufacturing.
  • Instill technical and business expertise in the design, development, manufacturing, & implementation or turn-key manufacturing equipment systems.
  • Cultivate a culture of expert utilization of root cause analysis, FMEA, and data analytics.
  • Establish and execute strategies to ensure product meets customer and partner requirements Work closely with the management team to lay out annual and longer-term budgetary requirements for continued product development and manufacturing.
  • Be hands-on with the engineering team in designing, building, and testing of turn-key manufacturing equipment systems and new product development projects.
  • Implement industry related regulatory global compliance development initiatives, technology standards, industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices.

Required Qualifications

  • 15+ years of hands-on experience in capital equipment design, development, fabrication, & deployment
  • Demonstrated experience in engineering and project leadership roles.
  • Extensive experience in engineering management and new product introduction
  • Experience with industrial coating processes
  • Experience with automation, process control and scaleup
  • Experience in battery equipment, electrode manufacturing equipment is favorable.
  • Experience with roll-to-roll manufacturing
  • Experience with Tier 1 Automotive suppliers, validations, and processes
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
