About the role:

Altruistiq is now in scale-up phase, to help take us to the next level of growth, we are looking for a VP of Finance. It's essential that you have experience in a previous start-up/scale-up. The VP of Finance will set up key processes to deliver a scalable finance function and lead us through our next stage of “hyper growth”. Reporting directly to the CEO this role involves strategic leadership for the finance function at Altruistiq.

Responsibilities:

  1. Financial Strategy and Planning:
    • Develop and execute financial strategies to support the company's overall business objectives.
    • Collaborate with the executive team to drive financial planning, budgeting, and forecasting processes.
    • Provide insights and recommendations to optimize financial performance and support decision-making.
    • Develop financial and tax strategies. Assess the financial efficacy of programmatic operations and establish finance and administrative systems to support operations.
    • Review and refine accounting policies, controls, procedures, and back-up documentation.
  2. Financial Reporting and Analysis:
    • Direct the preparation of all financial reports.
    • Analysing and presenting financial reports in an accurate and timely manner.
    • Communicate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements; monitor progress and changes, and keep the senior leadership team abreast of the organization’s financial status.
    • Oversee the preparation of accurate and timely financial statements, reports, and analyses.
    • Present financial results to the executive team and board of directors, highlighting key trends, opportunities, and risks.
    • Implement and maintain financial reporting systems to ensure transparency and compliance.
    • Build key financial analysis processes to ensure senior leaders across the business consistently have key financial metrics at their fingertips
  3. Cash Flow Management:
    • Manage the company’s cash flow and forecasting.
    • Develop a reliable cash flow projection process and reporting mechanism that includes a minimum cash threshold to meet operating needs.
    • Manage cash flow and liquidity to support operational needs and growth initiatives.
    • Implement effective cash management practices and optimize capital structure.
  4. Risk Management:
    • Identify and assess financial risks, proposing strategies to mitigate potential issues.
    • Establish and maintain robust internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure compliance with regulations.
  5. Fundraising and Investor Relations: experience working closely on pitches with external investors to take Altruistiq through our next, very exciting stage of growth.
    • Work closely with executive leadership to prepare for fundraising activities, including due diligence processes.
    • Foster positive relationships with investors and provide regular updates on financial performance and strategic initiatives.
  6. Scaling Operations:
    • Support the scaling of the company by providing financial guidance on resource allocation, expansion strategies, and new market entry.
    • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align financial goals with operational objectives.
    • Understand and mitigate key elements of the company's risk profile. Construct and monitor reliable control systems.

Role Requirements:

  1. Proven experience as a Finance leader in a scaling technology environment or other investment/finance focused role (e.g. Venture Capital; Investment Banking etc.).
  2. Strong understanding of SaaS business models, subscription-based revenue recognition, and other relevant financial considerations.
  3. Experience working with the UK and US accounting and tax requirements
  4. Demonstrated success in fundraising and managing investor relations.
  5. CPA, CA, CFA or other relevant professional certifications preferred
  6. Excellent communication and presentation skills.
  7. Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic startup environment.
  8. Advanced proficiency in financial modelling and analysis.
