350.org is looking for an Associate Director: Global Clean Energy Network for a fixed term period of one year

About the Associate Director: Global Clean Energy Network
The Global Clean Energy Network is a civil society-led ‘Network of Networks’ connecting, coordinating & collaborating on the key transnational strategies needed to meet the urgent and shared goal of driving clean energy scaling in the power sector in a just and equitable way, to displace fossil fuels and make 1.5C possible. The Network brings together transnational and regional networks & organisations; fossil fuel campaigners, finance, data, diplomacy, legal and communication experts, human rights, grassroots, development organisations, RE industry and trade union associations, youth groups, entrepreneurs and funders.
350.org seeks a strategic, collaborative leader to lead and coordinate the network, working together with the Network’s Steering Committee and the leads of the strategic workstreams, to encourage and support collaboration and thereby impact.
Duties & Responsibilities
Coordinating Global Clean Energy Network
- Provide expert input into thought leadership and strategies to improve the effectiveness of the GCEN (drawing upon best practices for network coordination)
- Operationalise strategic objectives, including to support workstream teams to track progress, identify relevant connections with other workstreams and help overcome any obstacles including funding needs
- Hold responsibility and manage the overall project budget, including hiring and overseeing consultants and Network meetings
- Ensure reporting on workstream progress to the Steering Committee
- Develop a process to assess workstream funding needs, and support workstream leads to bring proposals to funders
- Manage the disbursement of smaller discretionary funds (e.g. convenings, mapping work) in support of the workstreams
- Lead on the design and delivery of the annual strategy meeting
- Project manage the GCEN’s priorities, including transnational coordination across the Network, ensuring the Network is meeting its strategic objectives. Coordinating across the Network.
- Actively coordinate with regional networking structures and with key funders (PIE in particular), including strategic input, monitoring and reporting as needed.
Knowledge exchange
- Identify common knowledge gaps among the network, and establish knowledge exchange mechanisms to foster interaction between workstreams and between global and regional levels of work
Network governance
- Support the Steering Committee to fulfill its function as guardian of the “network of networks” concept by managing its agenda, chairing the meeting and maintaining records of meeting discussions and decisions, providing timely and relevant reports and other information, and implementing Steering Committee decisions
Network expansion
- As agreed and prioritised with the Steering Committee, develop and execute engagement strategies for recruiting new members to the network, helping to strengthen and diversify the network (movement building)
Required Qualifications
- Experience in proactively building a global network that contributes to, and builds on, strong regional/national structures and strategies
- Experience in leadership of strategy development and delivery
- Excellent facilitation skills
- Experience in climate/energy campaigning
- Experience In budgeting and in managing grants
We are looking for someone who is comfortable working both independently and in teams, highly responsive, and able to lead initiatives as well as take direction from others.
Position Type: Full time for 12 months

Work Environment: This role is a remote working opportunity in a fast-paced, high-pressure, highly collaborative team culture. Attendance of online and offline climate workshops, forums, or actions will occasionally be required based on geographic location or work capacity needs.
