What Pearl Edison makes

Air-source heat pump retrofits, made easy - instant system design, instant quote, and an instant connection to a qualified installer

Company Info

Pearl is a home electrification “concierge” - the platform exists to help homeowners navigate what system to buy for their unique home and goals, what's reasonable to pay (net of rebates and incentives), and who to trust with the install. Purpose-built software allows homeowners to instantly generate a value-engineered system design, get an executable fixed-price quote, and connect with a vetted, qualified contractor to complete the install. This also saves contractors time and money by eliminating work typically performed at risk on a low win rate - a home assessment, system design, bid preparation, customer education - so that contractors can spend more time on installs and less time on sales.

Role of software at Pearl Edison

Home electrification is critically important and therefore often talked about as inevitable. At Pearl, we don't believe that's the case. An investment in a home heating and cooling system, for example, is a "kitchen table" decision and most people consider a broader range of factors than just climate.

Ultimately, we believe that home electrification needs to be easier for homeowners and more profitable for contractors if we're going to move as quickly as we need to.

Engineers at Pearl build products with this goal in mind - "easier for homeowners, profitable for contractors" - starting with heating and cooling. Most processes in home heating and cooling are manual and bespoke - our goal is to do more of the work with software to deliver better information for customers and dollar / time savings for contractors.

Initially, the focus of our platform is generating an instant, value-engineered system design (mechanical, electrical, and building shell improvements), pricing that design, and coordinating installation through a licensed/qualified/vetted contractor.

This makes it easier for homeowners to determine what to buy, what to pay, and who will complete the installation. It also saves contractor partners money. Longer-term, the goal is to target and eliminate a much broader range of "friction points" in the home electrification journey.

Pearl Edison's Trajectory

Pearl expects to raise $3-5m in 2024 for growth and a larger engineering team to support growth.

Pearl Edison's Climate Impact

Pearl measures its success by replacement of systems that consume natural gas with systems that are powered by clean electricity. Residential energy consumption accounts for ~20% of GHG emissions in the United States. This is a solvable problem - 90% of these emissions are addressable by 2050, and the technologies that must be deployed in order to achieve this are technologically mature and (in many cases) economically viable.
