Role of software at Aurora Solar
Software engineers are the bedrock of Aurora Solar. Engineers collaborate with product management and product design to make their concepts come to life. These are SaaS features that empower solar installation companies to streamline and automate the traditionally manually process of going solar, which ultimately helps make going solar easier, quicker and more accessible across the world.
Aurora Solar's Trajectory
Over the past year, Aurora has achieved multiple major milestones, including raising $200M in capital (putting its valuation at $4.4 billion), announcing new artificial intelligence solutions that radically accelerate revenue for solar installers and lower the soft costs of delivering solar, unveiling LiDAR for HelioScope, acquiring commercial solar software provider Folsom Labs, and launching a new financing hub.
In September of 2022, Aurora Solar also announced the completion of the 10 millionth project designed within its platform - a milestone no other solar tech company has achieved. Aurora’s platform is used by 90 percent of the top 100 U.S. residential solar installers, powers almost 100,000 solar projects every week, and reduces change orders up to 99 percent, allowing contractors to shrink sale-to-permitting time up to 90 percent.
Aurora's headcount is planned to grow to more than 700 full-time employees by the end of 2023.
Aurora Solar's Climate Impact
Aurora estimates over 60 million tons of CO2 have been avoided since its inception; this is based on the number of solar “projects” i.e. addresses that Aurora's software has supported. Aurora’s customers are the solar installers; their customers are the homeowners.
