Role Overview
We’re seeking a visionary Head of Motor Design to lead the creation and growth of a new electric motor engineering team in the UK. This is a high-impact leadership role focused on developing cutting-edge propulsion systems across aerospace, automotive, and robotics applications. You’ll drive the full product lifecycle while fostering a culture of technical excellence, collaboration, and innovation.

Key Responsibilities

• Build, lead, and mentor a multidisciplinary motor design team
• Define product design strategy, KPIs, and technical roadmaps
• Oversee electromagnetic, thermal, and mechanical motor design
• Lead system integration, validation, and certification efforts
• Collaborate cross-functionally with simulation, manufacturing, and procurement teams
• Drive continuous improvement, cost optimization, and supplier engagement
• Ensure compliance with safety, regulatory, and environmental standards
• Own technical documentation, design reviews, and IP development

Requirements

• MSc or PhD in Electrical or Electro-Mechanical Engineering
• Proven leadership in electric motor design across propulsion systems
• Expertise in Motor-CAD, Maxwell, Ansys Mechanical, Fluent, and 3D CAD
• Deep knowledge of electromagnetic, thermal, and structural analysis
• Experience with motor control algorithms, efficiency mapping, and simulation modeling
• Skilled in FMECA, FTA, DVP&R, DFMEA, PFMEA, and DOE methodologies
• Strong communication, problem-solving, and stakeholder management skills
