Job Description
As the Greenhouse Gas Emissions Engineering Specialist, you will be the agency’s subject matter expert on greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions verification under the Climate Commitment Act. In this role, you will:
Review GHG emissions report submissions for accuracy and completeness.
Provide technical assistance with engineering analyses of emissions data.
Cultivate and maintain relationships and ongoing communication with stakeholders and regulated entities covered by the GHG reporting program by providing proactive information, consulting with senior staff, and answering technical questions.
Provide engineering support and training to businesses and stakeholders for accurate emissions reporting.
Evaluate emerging technologies and decarbonization methods for industries that report emissions.
Identify implications and participate in review of proposed federal or state stationary source regulations and guidance documents that may relate to or affect greenhouse gas accounting or carbon pollution.The principal department strategic priorities and goals that relate to the Climate Pollution Reduction Program (CPRP) include: reduce and prepare for climate impacts; prevent and reduce toxic threats; and deliver efficient and effective services. The CPRP’s mission is to implement policies and programs to reduce carbon emissions in the state of Washington so that the state meets its statutory greenhouse gas emission limits. The CPRP focuses long term, requiring creative and strategic decision making for implementation to achieve broad statewide and interstate success reducing carbon emissions in the state of Washington so residents have a healthy environment and climate.
