Laboratory Technician

Overview

Tender is revolutionizing the food industry by solving a major global challenge: how to make meat production ethical and sustainable. Going beyond the existing plant-based burgers, we are developing alternative meat whole-cuts – think steaks and chicken breasts – using innovative technologies.

We are seeking a lab technician to join our team to help with lab research and development of a new class of alternative meat products (plant-based and cultured meat). You will work closely with our Operations, Engineering, Materials, and Food teams to advance development of our novel alternative meat technologies. You will gain firsthand experience in product development in a fast-paced startup environment with team members who are equally passionate about positively impacting the planet.

• You are adept in your field and open to learning- everyone fights to have you on their team.
• You have worked in the food & beverage development industry (or other related space) for 0-2 years.
• You thrive in fast-paced, cerebral workplaces.
• You have excellent work ethic and demand excellence from those around you.
• You have deep analytical skills and an ability to see what others have missed.
• You are curious and excited about joining an early-stage startup, where you will work autonomously on high-impact projects.

Responsibilities

• Working with our scientists to help execute cutting-edge research
• Receiving, labeling and safely storing samples to be tested
• Determining and performing tests needed for the analysis and report
• Recording tests and analyses and then reporting the results
• Discussing and answering any questions regarding the results
• Organizing and storing samples in accordance with all safety and other requirements to ensure the safety of personnel and integrity of the sample
• Cleaning and maintaining lab equipment, including recalibration of equipment
• Maintaining equipment records and daily work logs
