Overview
Are you looking to make a difference in the world while producing a new product? Tender is revolutionizing the food industry by solving a major global challenge: how to make meat production ethical and sustainable. Going beyond the existing plant-based burgers, we are developing alternative meat whole-cuts – think steaks and chicken breasts – using innovative technologies.
We are seeking an intern or co-op to join our team to help with lab research and development of a new class of alternative meat products that combine the best of plant-based ingredients and cultured cells. You will work closely with our bioengineering team leads to advance development of our novel alternative meat technologies. You will gain lab research and product development experience in a dynamic and creative startup environment.
About You:
- You are adept in your field and open to learning- everyone wants to have you on their team.
- You are a currently pursuing bachelor's or master's degree in cell biology, bioengineering, or a related field - or are a recent graduate.
- You have experience culturing cells in a BSL-2 lab environment.
- You have great aseptic technique
- You are organized and have a strong attention to detail.
- You thrive in fast-paced, cerebral workplaces.
- You are intellectually curious and excited about joining an early-stage startup, where you will think outside of the box and learn to work autonomously on high-impact projects.
- You have excellent work ethic and demand excellence from those around you.
- You have deep analytical skills and an ability to see what others have missed.
- You have a passion to change the world for the better. What you do for work matters to you deeply.
Responsibilities
- You will help develop, characterize, and maintain cell lines from multiple species
- You will contribute to the process of turning these cells into delicious meat products
- You will help maintain the lab space and prepare reagents
- You will design and execute experiments
- You will present data at team meetings
