About the Role:

The Senior and Principal Systems Engineers in the Systems Engineering team are essential roles in the organization, providing robust requirements for internal and external projects.

As a Systems Engineer working under the Systems Architect, you will be taking abstract goals for a system and developing them in to detailed and deliverable Subsystem specifications. You will apply industry best practice techniques such as Use Case Analysis, FMEA, HARA in a Model Based Systems Engineering environment to produce designs for complex problems and ultimately drive the engineering processes at TAE Power Solutions.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

The following aspects shall form part of the role, depending on the specific requirement of the job specification:

  • Use requirements management tools for capturing requirements at all levels and generating specification documents – SysML experience required for all roles
  • Produce robust systems requirements for complex and/or novel designs
  • Lead or Support FMEA activities as required
  • Define Logical architectures to support the allocation of feature/functions
  • Decompose functional safety requirements
  • Review test reports and sign off as required
  • Analyse and define system features and attributes
  • Decompose regulations and standards into technical requirements
  • Review systems models for features and functions
  • Conduct appropriate analysis (use cases, sequence diagrams, simulations, state machines etc.) for defining system behavior and deriving functional requirements
  • Analyse and define physical architecture and interfaces.
  • Support the system level fault response and reconfiguration activities
  • Support reliability and safety analysis (e.g. ITD, FMEA, FTA, HARA etc.)
  • Liaise with stakeholders to enable the elicitation of requirements
  • Interface between software and hardware engineers to support system design
  • Perform or support the development of test plans and test cases
  • Ensure validation activities are fed back into the system design

Safety & Environmental

  • Ensures Environmental Health & Safety policy is always adhered to.
  • Promotes Environmental Health & Safety awareness.
  • Responsible for adhering to EHS procedures & policies to ensure compliance.

Required Education & Experience:

  • A degree or similar qualification in a relevant Engineering or Science discipline
  • Relevant experience of system design and/or electrical/electronic engineering disciplines
  • A sound understanding of engineering, physics and applied mathematics and their application to solving real world problems

System or Knowledge

  • Experience of model-based requirements engineering (Enterprise Architect preferable but not essential)
  • Familiarity with automotive spice and systems engineering processes on the left hand side of the V Model.

  • Strong presentation, report writing and communication skills

Other Features of job

  • Eligible to work in the UK.
  • This role is based at our Head Office at Birmingham Business Park, 0900 to 1700, including 30-minute paid break 5 days a week.
  • Travel occasionally
