About the Role:

As a Contractor Senior Engineer – Electrical EDS within TAE Power Solutions electrical department, you will be involved at all stages of the design and development process. You will liaise directly with internal and external customers to support formal release and delivery of robust effective engineering solutions. You will be responsible for validation and approval of electrical distribution systems data to support project deliverables. You will be supporting the team of electrical engineers across multiple projects to ensure technical delivery.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • You will work across various projects of differing scale.
  • Projects may include electric vehicle systems, powertrain, and stationary energy storage.
  • You will be responsible at all stages of the design and development
  • You will be responsible for approving electrical design formal release data.
  • You will be responsible for validating electrical DVP data.
  • You will support execution, policing of conformity and status reporting for electrical designs on the assigned project.

Required Education & Experience:

  • A basic understanding of engineering, physics and applied mathematics and their application to solving real world problems.
  • An apprenticeship/HNC/D/ similar qualification or demonstrable experience in an engineering discipline
  • A minimum of 3 years relevant industry experience.
  • A basic understanding of automotive or other relevant Electrical systems design, development, and validation.
  • Knowledge of the effective delivery of technical objectives to quality targets and milestones including formal data release.
  • A basic understanding of systems engineering processes from requirements capture through to design validation.
  • Experience in the use of VeSys

Desired

  • Exposure to working on hybrid or electric vehicle subsystems and components e.g. HV EDS, LV EDS, inverters, DC/DC converters etc.
  • Exposure to compliance engineering to electric vehicle regulations and external standards
  • A positive and tenacious aptitude.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Support of reliability and safety analysis (e.g., FMEA)

System or Knowledge:

To demonstrate an understanding of automotive engineering design practices covering:

  • Electrical Distribution Systems (EDS) and their subcomponents.
  • Sound knowledge of engineering principles, materials selection, and manufacturing techniques
  • Sound knowledge of vehicle assembly with respect to EDS.
  • Sound knowledge of EDS manufacturing processes.
  • Sound knowledge of EDS validation approaches and techniques.
  • Sound knowledge of formal data releasing with in an engineering design commodity.

  • Responsible for adhering to EHS procedures & policies to ensure compliance.

Other Features of job

  • Eligible to work in the UK.
  • This role is based at the Head Office at Birmingham Business Park
  • 0900 to 1700, excluding 30minutes break, 5 days a week.
  • Travel occasionally
