At TAE Power Solutions, we design power management systems that use less but do more. From electric vehicle drivetrains and ultrafast charging to stationary energy storage and grid efficiencies, we develop a clean energy ecosystem of proprietary technology designed to go faster, perform stronger, travel farther, and last longer.

About the Role:

We currently have an opening at our Foothill Ranch, CA (Orange County) facility for a Senior Embedded Systems Engineer who will be responsible for defining the embedded system architecture, identifying hardware and software requirements, and developing real-time low level embedded software for power electronics and control systems. The candidate will be responsible for designing and developing software for embedded control systems of Traction Inverters, DC-DC converters, On-Board Chargers, Battery Management Systems, and Stationary Energy Storage Systems. This is a full-time position with rich benefits and a great comp package. Join us!

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Develop product requirements based on industry needs, business strategy, and future trends.
  • Design and develop embedded system architecture utilizing electrical, electronics, and software knowledge.
  • Develop embedded system architecture capturing the interfaces between hardware and software.
  • Design, develop, implement, debug and maintain embedded real-time software for power conversion ECUs.
  • Work closely with hardware engineers developing hardware requirements, reviewing circuit board schematics and electrical architecture.
  • Work closely with software engineers developing software requirements, reviewing software architecture, hardware-software interface, and communications.
  • Work with standard and develop custom communication protocols for new systems.
  • Analyze the simulation models to derive embedded system requirements.
  • Develop requirements understanding the functional safety compliance aspects.
  • Work with hardware, software, functional safety, and algorithm engineers to integrate and test ECUs.
  • Create product characterization test plans and create clear test reports for technical reviews.
