Job Description
The Role
As our General Manager of Indonesia, you will lead our highest-impact market and build the operational foundation for our global expansion. Indonesia represents massive potential with tens of millions of tCO2e emissions annually, creating both environmental urgency and significant business opportunity. This is a “mini-CEO” role with full accountability for our presence in Indonesia.
You will work closely with Recoolit’s co-founders to set targets, grow the team, build a repeatable scalable operational machine, and establish a winning culture. If you are successful, you will have the opportunity to grow with the company as we scale to make a planet-sized impact in Indonesia and beyond.
What you will do: Full P&L ownership. Set country strategy, budgets, and targets. Team leadership. Hire, coach, and retain a scrappy, high‑output local team across business development, logistics, compliance, and operations. In all areas, you’ll work to grow our existing team, jumping in to solve problems directly when necessary. Operational excellence: finance, legal, HR, and all business functions need to scale while maintaining quality External leadership: Be the day-to-day face of Recoolit to Indonesian partners, regulators and the media. Strategic influence: shape how we expand to other countries and integrate Indonesia into our global strategy, with support from the executive team and parent company as required. Day-to-Day Reality: In our dynamic, fast-paced start up environment you'll split time between strategic planning, team development, and hands-on problem-solving. One day you might be negotiating with a major property developer, the next training field technicians or working through regulatory compliance. This role requires someone comfortable moving between boardrooms and job sites.
Skills Required
To be successful, you will bring: 7 + yrs operating experience, including GM/COO or founder-level ownership. Demonstrated P&L or business-unit accountability >US$5M revenue. Track record building and leading teams (20 + people) in ambiguous, fast moving environments. Strong deal-maker: comfortable in boardrooms and on job sites. Strong professional network within Indonesia: you can identify and get introduced to key players at relevant potential partners. Fluent in both Indonesian and English. You should be comfortable having complex business discussions in both languages. Relevant industry experience (eg carbon markets, real estate, facilities management, or HVAC) is a plus but not required. Full working rights and work authorization for Indonesia is essential.
And while not essential you may also have: an MBA and international experience/exposure climate and/or ESG expertise/knowledge experience in government liaison or public affairs
If you are passionate about climate and eliminating super-pollutants, then please submit your CV and cover letter addressing the skills required and make sure you tell us what Kigali means to Recoolit, quoting reference #1362473.
