Job Description
Northvolt is looking for engineers experienced with equipment certification standards to join us in our mission to contribute to a greener future. The role is a part of our cylindrical cell manufacturing team based in Västerås, Sweden. By joining us, you will be a key player in defining processes and specifying equipment that will be used in one of the first large scale European battery factories.
About the job
Northvolt sources battery assembly equipment from all corners of the globe, and we need equipment engineers experienced in equipment certification to make sure that our equipment is safe and reliable before the first steel is cut. As an equipment certification engineer, you will work with internal and external stakeholders to ensure technical equipment challenges are solved in a way that prioritizes safety and quality.
- You will gain an understanding of the core technologies that define our product through interactions with the process engineering team.
- You will discuss technical machine design, electrical wiring and controls standards with the internal equipment team who are developing specifications for equipment.
- You will interact with external machine builders from a variety of backgrounds to drive safe machine design from the first review of the risk assessment to the final site acceptance test. This role will involve multi-day travel to vendors in both Europe and abroad approximately 6-8 times per year.
- You will also be in contact with the wider Northvolt team including safety and validation, quality, equipment purchasing and others.
Key responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Delivering equipment to our R&D and production sites that adheres to all applicable safety regulations and standards.
- Working with suppliers and Northvolt equipment engineers to find solutions to technical challenges associated with safety.
- Lead core steps to achieve machine safety including reviewing and contributing to: risk assessments, machine design, safety controls, documentation.
Examples of challenges that you may face:
- Equipment has arrived on site and does not meet all applicable standards to be operated within the country of arrival. You will need to work with the machine builder and other stakeholders to drive solutions to safety issues.
- Non-European machine builders are unfamiliar with European equipment standards as they relate to safety. On the next generation of high-tech assembly equipment, you will be involved at an early stage of design to steer the project in a way that prioritizes safety.
Apply with CV in English. Full time employment, fixed salary.
