Job Description

We are looking for an experienced Category Manager to join us in our mission to contribute to a greener future. The role is part of our passionate purchasing team based in Västerås. Northvolt Purchasing is a central procurement function serving all entities of Northvolt with strategic and operational aspects of the supply chain. Indirect Purchasing team is responsible for all strategic choices across the spend for Northvolt. We are a diverse multinational team with strong focus on strategic sourcing and digital transformation of operational purchases.

Your challenge, if you join us

As a Category Manager for Human Resources, Travel, and Marketing at Northvolt, you'll have the exciting opportunity to collaborate across all departments within the organization. This role involves engaging with internal stakeholders and external suppliers, with a focus on developing and managing suppliers. Your responsibilities will include working closely with internal teams, building the supply base, creating category strategies, forming panels for sourcing activities, recommending suppliers for new projects, and driving supplier optimization in terms of cost, quality, and service level. You will get the chance to have a real impact on our success story and see the immediate results of your work.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Define/improve category strategy, monitor market trends, competitor strategies and market suppliers, research and evaluate areas of opportunity and reduce costs within your responsibility
  • Improve prices and terms of business with suppliers and review opportunities to make business savings utilizing negotiation and procurement best practice tools and methods
  • Assess and evaluate suppliers and undertake performance reviews to ensure contract compliance and manage performance improvement activities
  • Work collaboratively and negotiate and engage with stakeholders and suppliers regarding new projects, supplies and initiatives and advise of impact of change on purchasing and production activities
  • Support overall organisation with purchasing activities including finding the right suppliers, identifying the consolidated needs and settle suitable agreements in place
