Job Description
Nature’s Fynd is a groundbreaking food tech company born out of NASA-supported research on extremophiles in the geothermal pools of Yellowstone National Park. Our novel fermentation technology produces a sustainable source of complete protein using only a fraction of the resources required by traditional agriculture. As the challenge to feed the world’s expanding population grows, our mission is to create amazing foods and materials that provide sustainable choices and nurture the planet.
We’re looking for passionate, driven, and ambitious people to join our fast-growing team.
Profiles
BS chemist or engineer with lab experience and will be a culture fit (curious, optimistic can-do attitude, comfortable with ambiguity, and will find a way)
Work Experience
Skilled working in a lab environment, including experience using common laboratory testing, processing equipment, and common lab chemicals. Experience with formulating helpful
Bonus: experience in materials (leather, textile, paper) or relevant chemical companies
Personal Qualifications
Ability to work independently in the lab, pilot plant and eventually in a manufacturing environment
Optimistic can-do attitude. Looking for someone who can be flexible to a wide range of R&D and operations related activities; roll up the sleeves and get it done kind of person
Open to a physical labor and production component
Day to Day Role
Support our new product and process development efforts in the role of a lab jr scientist/technician
Maintain lab and complete required technical tasks, such as set up and completion of experiments, assigned by sr scientists and engineers
Ability to carry out, independently or with minimal support, common lab experimental tasks
Keen observational skills and ability to properly document experimental activities and data collection
Operate and maintain sophisticated lab equipment
General lab housekeeping, including cleaning and quality control, equipment set-up, and ability to safely work with common lab chemicals and equipment
Example activities specific to this role:
Grow biomass in trays via a fermentation method
Take biomass through chemical processing to create novel biomaterials
Finish biomaterial for final product applications
Ability to collect and analyze routine datasets (including statistical data analyses)
