Job Description
Manatee Energy is a tech-forward HVAC company revolutionizing how homeowners transition to heat pumps and efficient electric systems by leveraging software and transparent pricing.
We've hit our highest installation volume ever and need an exceptional operations leader to transform our success into repeatable, scalable systems that can grow 5x without breaking.
The Opportunity
We're looking for a systems-minded operations professional who gets excited about turning chaos into smooth processes. You'll be instrumental in building the operational backbone of our rapidly scaling heat pump installation business. This isn't about managing what exists - it's about building what's next.
As our Director of Operations, you'll own the entire project lifecycle from initial site visit through installation completion, creating processes that enable less experienced team members to deliver exceptional results consistently.
What You Will Do
- Design and implement scalable installation processes and quality control systems
- Create training materials and SOPs that compress learning curves from months to weeks
- Manage multiple installation projects and project managers to simultaneously, coordinating crews, permits, and rebates
- Build automated workflows for repetitive administrative tasks
- Develop metrics and dashboards to track operational performance
- Conduct site visits and create detailed scopes of work
- Coordinate with subcontractors, suppliers, and utility companies
- Continuously improve processes based on field feedback and data
- Help scale operations from dozens to hundreds of installations per season
What You Bring
Must-Haves:
- 3-5 years managing complex residential projects (HVAC, solar, construction, or similar)
- Proven track record of creating and documenting processes others successfully follow
- Experience managing multiple stakeholders and subcontractors
- Tech-forward mindset and comfort with digital tools and automation
- Loves to-do lists and calendars
- Systems thinking approach to problem-solving
Nice-to-Haves:
- HVAC or heat pump installation knowledge
- Massachusetts building codes and utility rebate program experience
- Operations consulting or continuous improvement background
- Experience scaling service businesses

Compensation & Benefits
- Competitive salary: $75,000-$110,000 based on experience
