Kaluza reimagines energy to bring net-zero within everyone’s reach. Our intelligent platform enables energy utilities to unlock the full value of a radically changing energy system and propel us to a future where renewable energy is sustainable, affordable and accessible for all. From automating and simplifying core operations including billing to create a lower-cost, higher-engagement experience, to optimising energy usage across smart devices in the home, we turn tough challenges into win-win-win outcomes for customers, suppliers and the energy system. At Kaluza we embrace a flexible, hybrid work model that balances autonomy with the power of in-person connection. Many of our teams find value in coming together regularly to collaborate, strengthen relationships, and accelerate progress. We’re focused on shaping thoughtful, team-driven approaches that support both business impact and individual well-being. We also prioritise meaningful company-wide gatherings like our annual conference and end-of-year celebrations, that bring us together to align, connect, and celebrate.
Where in the world of Kaluza will I be working? You’ll be joining the Risk and Compliance team which is part of the Finance Community. We’re a group of people dedicated to translating complex contractual and regulatory needs into simple requirements that Kaluza can demonstrate compliance against. We’re also responsible for the Enterprise Risk Management framework which supports Kaluza identifying risks and opportunities to ensure that we continue to develop and provide the best products for our clients.
You’ll be working on the Kaluza’s Energy Retail platform. This is a SaaS technology platform that aims to revolutionise the operating platforms for energy retailers globally. This platform has been built with scale and technical quality in mind and is the foundation for decarbonisation efforts by Kaluza’s customers. You'll also be working on Kaluza’s Flexibility platform. Designed to be the nervous system connecting energy retailers, grid operators, and consumers, Flex will aid us in creating the distributed, consumer-centric, dynamic energy system of the future. Bridging the gap between distributed renewable generation and smart devices, it helps consumers shift their energy consumption to times when there's more renewable energy. This not only saves them money, but enables society as a whole to meet the challenge of decarbonising transport and residential heating/cooling. We’re also supporting this vital shift by building the innovative technology behind unique, market-leading customer propositions like Vehicle to Grid and Drive Anytime Energy Plan with our energy retailer partners.
What will I be doing? You will join our dedicated Risk & Compliance team, a group of experts focused on translating complex regulatory and contractual obligations into clear, actionable requirements for the business. This role is crucial to our European expansion, as you will be responsible for building and maturing our compliance program, ensuring Kaluza's platform remains a trusted, secure, and compliant solution for our clients. Your responsibilities will be centered on three key pillars: Risk & Compliance Program Management: You will be responsible for building and maintaining our compliance framework in Europe. This includes reviewing and analyzing EU and national legislation (covering energy, technology, data, and security), performing gap analyses, and distilling complex regulations into clear requirements for our Engineering, Product, and Finance teams. Stakeholder Collaboration & Enablement: You will work collaboratively with key stakeholders across the business to prioritize compliance improvements and implement new requirements. Your ability to translate technical concepts into simple terms will be vital in fostering a culture of compliance ownership and continuous improvement. Governance & Assurance: You will be responsible for developing and maintaining the necessary governance documentation to demonstrate compliance. You will also monitor adherence to our compliance framework, identify and track risks, and ensure the business is audit-ready at all times.
About You Ideally you’ll have/be Compliance Experience in Regulated Industries: Experience working in a regulated industry like energy or technology, with a focus on compliance. Regulatory Knowledge: A strong understanding of relevant European legislation and a proven ability to stay up-to-date with new regulations and guidance. Collaboration & Communication: Excellent communication skills, with the ability to build strong, collaborative relationships and simplify complex topics for non-experts. Analytical & Proactive: A strategic, proactive mindset with the ability to identify potential risks, perform risk assessments, and develop clear requirements to address them. Adaptable: You are comfortable working in a fast-paced, rapidly expanding environment and are excited to learn and develop new skills. What will set you apart Deep Domain Expertise: A specialisation in an area of compliance like data protection (GDPR), energy regulation, or technology security. SaaS and B2B Acumen: A clear understanding of how a B2B SaaS business operates, including its commercial and operational models. System & Process Builder: You have experience not just with compliance, but with building and improving the underlying systems and processes that make compliance scalable and efficient.
