Job Title: Client Solutions Lead – Migration Location: (including hybrid): Tokyo, Japan
Kaluza reimagines energy to bring net-zero within everyone’s reach. The Kaluza Platform enables energy utilities to unlock the full value of a radically changing energy system and propel us to a future where renewable energy is sustainable, affordable and accessible for all. From automating and simplifying core operations including billing to create a lower-cost, higher-engagement experience, to optimising energy usage across smart devices in the home, we turn tough challenges into win-win-win outcomes for customers, suppliers and the energy system. Kaluza is currently in an exciting growth phase, undergoing the next phase of our international expansion in Japan to further reinforce our capabilities as a globally distributed energy platform. This means that you would be one of the earliest Kaluza employees on the ground in Japan, working directly with our clients in the region. We champion a flexible, hybrid work approach and we find that teams often benefit from coming together at least 2-3 days a week to foster connection and accelerate progress. Outside of these collaborative opportunities, we aim to be as flexible as possible to balance work with life.
Where in the world of Kaluza will I be working? You’ll be working on Kaluza’s Retail Platform – our central operating system for energy suppliers. Designed to help clients achieve their business goals while advancing a net-zero future, the Retail Platform is at the heart of Kaluza’s mission. As we onboard new enterprise clients in Japan, one of the most critical challenges is the migration of the client’s customers and teams onto the Kaluza platform. You’ll dive deep into our clients’ existing systems, data, and processes, leading the design and delivery of safe, effective migration pathways that ensure a smooth transition to Kaluza. What will I be doing?As Implementation Consultant (Migration Focus), you will play a key role in the success of Kaluza’s client migrations in Japan. Reporting to the Head of Client Solutions, you will work directly with clients, from the early stages of engagement, to understand their needs and design tailored solutions that deliver their goals. You will act as Kaluza’s migration subject matter expert, leading client discussions from the earliest stages and advocating for Kaluza’s proven migration methodologies. This role is critical in both technical planning and execution, addressing what is often seen as the most significant risk in replatforming transformation programmes. You’ll work hand-in-hand with colleagues across Delivery, Product, and Engineering—collaborating closely with programme managers, business analysts, and consultants. A deep understanding of Kaluza’s product suite, technical migration methods, and integration approaches will be essential. This is a hands-on, client-facing role that demands both technical fluency and consultative strength, ensuring migrations are fast, safe, and deliver measurable value. Example Activities include: Gaining a detailed understanding of clients’ existing data models, systems, and integration points. Consulting and supporting clients in developing robust data extraction and migration capabilities. Architecting and presenting Kaluza-based solutions tailored to each client’s migration needs and demonstrating their business outcomes. Developing client-specific migration plans, including cohort design, timelines, and migration frequency. Taking a lead role once migrations are underway, contributing to programme governance and continuously refining migration approaches. During the first 12 months, likely to include travel to our offices in the UK and Australia. A fluent Japanese speaker Experienced in complex SaaS migrations at enterprise scale. Highly proactive, with strong initiative and a commercial, entrepreneurial mindset. A team player and open communicator who keeps colleagues informed. Comfortable operating with a start-up mentality – self-organising and adaptable.Able to balance short-term tactical delivery with long-term strategic thinking. Skilled in managing change with empathy, diplomacy, and emotional intelligence. Effective at building bridges across teams and levels within an organisation. Desirable Knowledge and Skills Understanding of the energy industry in Japan and the broader energy transition landscape. Experience in data analysis, data migration, and management. Familiarity with systems architecture and integration frameworks.
