Job Description

As Legal Counsel – Contract & Commercial Affairs, you’ll play a pivotal role within IONITY’s Legal team, a strategic business partner committed to enabling and securing our ambitious goals across Europe. In this dynamic and purpose-driven environment, your legal expertise won’t just support the business, it will empower it.
You’ll work hand-in-hand with stakeholders across 24 countries, contributing to high-impact decisions that drive the transition to sustainable mobility. Your work will shape commercial outcomes, mitigate risks with smart, pragmatic legal solutions, and ensure IONITY’s operations are legally secure as we scale.
This is an ideal opportunity for a business-minded law graduate ready to elevate their legal career in a high-tech company at the forefront of Europe’s EV revolution. At IONITY, technology is at the core of what we do and that includes our legal operations. From digital tools to intelligent process optimization, you’ll have access to tech-driven legal solutions that enhance your work and amplify your impact.

Your Responsibilities
You will be entrusted with impactful, business-critical responsibilities that contribute to IONITY’s growth and innovation across Europe. Your focus will be to deliver solution-oriented legal guidance that empowers strategic and operational decision-making. Specifically, you will:

  • Draft, review, and negotiate commercial contracts with an eye toward practical implementation and risk mitigation
  • Act as a trusted legal partner to internal teams such as Network Development, Procurement, and Product & Growth providing pragmatic legal advice on a wide range of commercial, civil, and regulatory matters, primarily under German and EU law
  • Monitor legal developments and ensure compliance with evolving regulatory frameworks relevant to the e-mobility sector
  • Champion technology-supported legal operations, leveraging digital tools to streamline your work and amplify legal value across the organization You are a legally trained professional who combines sharp legal acumen with a business mindset and a drive to make a tangible impact. You enjoy working in a fast-paced, cross-functional environment where your advice matters — and you’re not afraid to think beyond the traditional boundaries of legal work.
    You bring:
  • A successfully completed First German State Examination in Law (erstes Staatsexamen)
  • 1–3 years of relevant experience in a legal department, law firm, or similar environment (internships welcome); applications from recent graduates and candidates with relevant internships are also welcome
  • A solid foundation in German civil and commercial law and a genuine interest in EU regulatory frameworks
  • Business fluency in German and English - written and spoken - to confidently engage with colleagues and partners across Europe
  • French language skills, which would be a strong asset in our international setting What sets you apart:
  • Strong communication skills: You express legal concepts clearly, confidently, and with a solution-oriented mindset, adapting to your audience
  • A tech-savvy approach to legal work: You see technology as a tool to streamline, optimize, and elevate your daily tasks
  • An entrepreneurial spirit or even a business degree that helps you connect legal reasoning with commercial value
  • A collaborative mindset and a readiness to grow with a company that’s redefining the future of sustainable mobility in Europe
