Job Description
About Helion
We are a fusion power company based in Everett, WA, with the mission to build the world's first fusion power plant, enabling a future with unlimited clean electricity. Our vision is a world with clean, reliable, and affordable energy for everyone.
Since Helion's founding in 2013, we have raised over $1 billion from long-time investors such as Sam Altman, Mithril, and Capricorn Investment Group as well as new investors SoftBank and Lightspeed to propel us forward. Our last prototype, Trenta, completed 10,000 high-power pulses and reached plasma temperatures of 100 million degrees Celsius (9 keV). We are now operating Polaris, our next prototype on the path to the world's first fusion power plant.
This is a pivotal time to join Helion. You will tackle real-world challenges with a team that prizes urgency, rigor, ownership, and a commitment to delivering hard truths – values essential to achieving what no one has before. Together, we will change the future of energy, because the world can't wait.
What You Will Be Doing:
You will be responsible for leading Helion's environmental services team to maintain cleanliness, safety, and operational readiness across production, office, and R&D areas. You will oversee daily operations, waste management, and environmental compliance while developing your team to meet rigorous standards. You'll work closely with Helion's Facilities, EHS, and Operations teams to ensure our site organization and cleanliness match the engineering and innovation taking place here. This is an on-site role that reports directly to the Facilities Operations Manager at our Everett, WA location.
You Will:
- Supervise and coordinate daily environmental services activities across multiple sites, ensuring all areas meet safety, cleanliness, and operational standards
- Train, mentor, and provide coaching to environmental services staff and contractors to achieve performance, quality, and safety goals
- Create cleaning schedules, conduct inspections, and identify process improvements that enhance efficiency, compliance, and sustainability
- Oversee inventory, supply orders, equipment maintenance, and safe storage practices for operations
- Maintain and improve procedures for waste segregation and spill response
- Partner with Facilities, EHS, and Operations to align environmental services with production
- Respond to service requests, support special projects and events, and step in as needed
Required Skills:
- 3+ years of experience in environmental services, facilities operations, or industrial cleaning leadership (including at least 1 year in a supervisory role)
- Demonstrated ability to lead and develop teams in fast-paced technical or manufacturing environments
- Knowledge of environmental compliance, hazardous waste management, and workplace safety practices
- Strong collaboration skills with cross-functional teams supporting lab and production operations
- Proven ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining high standards of quality and safety
- Physical ability to perform hands-on work, including lifting up to 50 lbs, working at heights, and using cleaning chemicals with appropriate PPE
