Job Description

Are you ready to rise to the challenge of climate change with the team that will deliver? Form Energy is a U.S. technology and manufacturing company that is developing and commercializing pioneering energy storage technologies to enable the electric grid to run on 100% renewable energy, every day of the year.

Supported by leading investors such as Breakthrough Energy Ventures, ArcelorMittal, TPG Rise, MIT’s The Engine, and others, we share a common belief that low-cost, multi-day energy storage is the key to enable tomorrow’s zero carbon electric grid. Driven by our core values of humanity, excellence, and creativity, we are deeply motivated and inspired to create a better world. We need talented, hardworking individuals who share our goal of tackling the challenge of climate change. Do you want to work with us today to build a better tomorrow?

Role Description

We are looking for a hands-on individual to help us develop our core technology by preparing samples and characterizing the material properties of our raw materials and iron electrodes. The ideal candidate will be comfortable constantly learning, repeating, and iterating on new processes at the direction of our Iron Battery R&D team. In this role, you will work closely with members of the Iron Battery R&D team to harvest and prepare samples and perform routine powder processing and characterization. A successful candidate will have a strong sense for chemical safety and experience working in a laboratory setting, executing standard operating procedures and maintaining an organized workspace. It's an exciting chance to grow with a pioneering company that values innovation and teamwork.

What you'll do:

  • Contribute significantly in the lab to help process powders, prepare samples, characterize materials, and build electrochemical cells
  • Execute and update standard operating procedures (SOPs) for routine measurements
  • Inventory new chemicals, keep the lab and samples organized, stocking, cleaning, and maintaining key consumables and equipment
  • Facilitate installation and assembly of new equipment or tools
  • Use digital tools including Asana, Slack, Confluence, LIMS, and GSuite among others

What you'll bring:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • 4+ years laboratory experience with either wet chemical, analytical testing or processing of powdered materials or an associate degree in an engineering field.
  • Basic chemical hygiene and safety knowledge
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills, experience using cloud based organizational tools
  • Battery experience is not required
