Who We Are

Factorial Energy is a pioneering U.S.-based solid-state battery company driving the future of energy storage and electrification. Partnered with global leaders including Mercedes-Benz, Stellantis, Hyundai, and Kia, Factorial is at the forefront of developing next-generation e-mobility platforms for commercial, defense, and consumer applications—spanning electric vehicles (EVs), drones, eVTOL aircraft, power tools, marine systems, robotics, and more. The company has achieved multiple industry firsts, including being the first to power a demonstration vehicle with a global OEM (Mercedes- Benz) which achieved over 1,200 km (749 mi) of range, and the first to earn UN 38.3 certification for automotive-sized lithium-metal solid-state cells, the first to deliver B-samples of automotive-sized solid-state batteries to major OEMs.

Job Description

We are seeking a Cell Product Development Engineer responsible for the design, validation, and optimization of lithium-ion and solid-state battery cell products.
This role involves close collaboration with customers, internal R&D teams, and production groups to deliver high-performance, reliable cell products.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design cell products in alignment with customer requirements, performance goals, and safety standards.
  • Validate and optimize electrochemical and safety performance through systematic testing and data analysis.
  • Lead New Product Introduction (NPI) processes, managing documentation such as BOM, DFMEA, and sample build indexes.
  • Oversee sample builds, identify and resolve technical issues, and lead failure analysis (FA) and root-cause investigations.
  • Actively participate in customer meetings to discuss new product development plans and technical feedback.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally to support manufacturing, quality, and R&D teams in resolving cell product–related technical issues.

Requirements

  • Education: Master’s degree or higher in Materials Science, Chemical Engineering, or a related field.
  • Experience: Minimum 3 years of experience in battery material or product development, with a strong understanding of lithium-ion battery systems.
  • Demonstrated ability to independently lead product or material development projects from concept to validation.
  • Strong skills in failure analysis, problem-solving, and data-driven decision-making.
  • Excellent communication skills in English (both written and verbal).
  • Proven experience in customer technical communication; prior involvement in EV (electric vehicle) battery development is highly preferred.
