Job Description
About the role The Technical Project Engineer (TPE) will work closely with Equatic’s leadership team, in particular the CTO and the Director Technical Projects, to engineer integrated plant designs, including FEED studies, and modeling of various equipment components, and systems for Equatic’s seawater mediated carbon removal process. The TPE will support the development and construction of next generation plants, including defining technical specifications, coordinating/steering external vendors, and conducting in-house FEED studies.
Role description ● Support plant development projects with technical designs, including individual unit operations and integration of the overall facility, and across all phases (conception, detailed design, construction) ● Modeling & FEED studies of individual unit operations: design innovative process equipment for manufacturability, balance function/features and cost containment, iterate designs based on manufacturability/cost ● Coordinate/steer engineering vendors ● Coordinate with the internal development team on improvements to core electrolyzer operations ● Translation of business requirements into technical specifications ● Independently identify and effectively communicate barriers and bottlenecks ● Integration of plant design with measurement, reporting, verification (MRV) efforts and Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) learnings. Define technical requirements and implement in the ongoing projects
Requirements & qualifications ● Work location: Los Angeles, Equatic office, no remote option ● B.S. in Engineering: (Electro-)chemical, Mechanical, Civil, Power Systems or similar (M.S. preferred) ● At least 5 years of relevant professional experience in industry ● Experience preparing engineering packages (FEED) for EPC contractors ● Familiar with current standards and directives in chemical and plant engineering. ● Proven experience in SHE and Hazops ● Proven expertise in manufacturing of engineered process equipment and deployment ● Proven success in delivering/ supporting Capex projects >$10M in size ● Demonstrated ability of taking ownership, being driven and results- oriented, and holding yourself and others accountable for success. ● Excellent communication skills, forthcoming in interpersonal relationships ● Demonstrated history of being a team builder and player, working seamlessly across organizations. ● Highly structured thinking including the ability to define overarching development plans and to track plan execution among different team members and internal/ external research partners ● Familiarity with electrochemical devices, such as electrolyzers or fuel cells ● Passionate about carbon management solutions ● Willing to travel as necessary
