Job Description
About Dioxycle
Dioxycle is pioneering breakthrough carbon utilization technologies that convert industrial emissions into sustainable chemicals with unprecedented energy and cost efficiency. By displacing fossil fuels for the production of key chemicals, Dioxycle has the potential to ultimately reduce over 800 million tons of CO2 per year, representing over 2% of the world's emissions.
At the core of our process is a novel "carbon electrolyzer", a machine capable of using just electricity and water to convert carbon emissions back into valuable everyday essential chemicals. Our team is innovating across chemical, mechanical and system engineering to turn carbon transformation into an economically feasible, industrial reality through this completely novel technological approach. Having completed our medium-scale Proof-of-Concept electrolyzer, we are now working towards a first-of-its-kind large-scale industrial prototype and are assembling key partnerships for future commercial roll-out.
We are supported by world-class funders including Lowercarbon Capital, Breakthrough Energy Ventures and Gigascale Capital and have raised $37M to date. We operate from two centers in Paris and California (so whether you are passionate about outdoors or good food/art scenes, we have a location for you to join!)
Your Mission
Dioxycle is seeking a dynamic Senior Electrochemist to join our team at this pivotal phase of transition from R&D to industrial piloting. We are seeking an enthusiastic, hard-working and technically adept individual who is excited about using their energy to foster innovation in electrolysis and have a tangible impact on global emissions.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design and fabricate advanced electrode materials and structures tailored for high efficiency electrolyzers
- Perform electrochemical evaluations to assess activity and durability of electrocatalysts
- Analyze failures modes and develop mitigations strategies
- Improve electrode design to ensure compatibility with scaling processes
- Conduct hands-on experimental work and analysis: documentation, post-processing and interpretation of electrolyzer performance
- Contribute to experimental plans to deepen understanding of, and unlock improvements in, electrolyzer performance
- Document technical processes, maintain detailed maintenance logs, and analyze equipment performance data.
- Pilot & contribute to R&D-wide initiatives such as improving maintenance strategies to improve laboratory operations and improve quality control and testing processes
- Actively foster a culture of safety in the lab
Location: Onsite in Paris, France
Qualifications:
To be fully comfortable with the job, you have (at least) a PhD or equivalent industry experience in electrochemistry.
Opportunity for Growth:
The position offers a clear path for professional growth within Dioxycle, with the possibility to advance into different specialized roles focused on technological development (for example, a manufacturing or research-oriented role).
Below are the skills we believe will enable you to be successful in this role.
