We engage in developing and designing innovative energy efficient solutions tailored specifically to each client site, through examining and modelling their existing processes and equipment in order to identify and implement energy conservation measures.

The Opportunity

In this role you will join our Engineering Team and be primarily focused on delivering Front End Engineering Design (“FEED”) and Engineering Detailed Design (“EDD”) services as CoolPlanet develops decarbonisation energy efficiency solutions for our clients. The role will also require input into the earlier auditing stages of our project development process. The individual will also support the design and delivery of our Grid Services offering to our clients.

Key aspects of the role include but are not limited to:

• Designing power supply solutions for new equipment such as heat pumps, chillers, circulation pumps, standby generators, etc.
• Developing drawings such as single line diagrams and cable schedule and layouts for the above solutions
• Liaising with client and 3rd party electrical and controls contractors on the design of new Motorised Control Panels for solutions to be installed on site by Cool Planet
• Assist in the specification of major mechanical / electrical items such as compressors, heat pumps generators, motors, variable speed drives, circulation pumps, control valves and instrumentation such as Temperature Transmitters, Pressure Transmitters, Flow Meters, etc. and working with our procurement team to obtain quotations from suppliers for the same
• Preparing cost estimates for new equipment and electrical installation works for inclusion in project budgets
• Working with the wider team to develop tender specifications for electrical works for pricing by 3rd party installation contractors
• Supporting project delivery on sites around Ireland, UK and Europe including attendance during the FEED, EDD, construction and commissioning stages
• Work within a wider cross-functional engineering and sales team to develop energy efficiency / savings solutions or Energy Conservation Measures across process, thermal, cooling, compressed air and water systems.
• Work with our in-house Clarity development team to build proposals for Energy Monitoring Systems to include new and existing energy meters and integrations with additional site information systems such as SCADA and stand-alone plant controllers.
• Liaise and build relationships with equipment suppliers and installation contractors to consult at various stages of the project life-cycle,
• Contribute to Engineering Detailed Design activities and evaluate and implement designs to ensure that all regional, national and international regulations, standards and codes are being met throughout the project life cycle including generating major equipment specifications, design documentation, contractor scope of works, etc.
• Mentor Junior Solutions Engineers and quality check their output.

Essential Knowledge, Skills & Experience Required

• Minimum Bachelor of Engineering or Science degree in Electrical Engineering related field of study - or equivalent qualification deemed applicable to the role.
• Minimum 7+ years’ proven experience working in a similar electrical design engineering role working on Low Voltage and Medium Voltage systems
• Excellent Report Writing and Presentation Skills
• An excellent communicator and team player
• Ability to prioritize given tasks and manage workload across multiple client projects
• An inquisitive nature to drill down into details and apply logical reasoning to problems to develop solutions
• Full Driving License

Desirable but Non-essential Skills and Experience

• A passion for developing and delivering decarbonisation solutions in our mission to help cool the planet!
• Experience in the design of decarbonisation and energy efficiency projects
• Master qualification in an energy-related field of study
• Professional Accreditations such as Chartered Engineer or similar
• Specific experience in food & beverage manufacturing and industrial sites

Location

• This position will be based out of CoolPlanet’s Powerscourt House office in Enniskerry, Co Wicklow however a flexible and balanced arrangement for working from home, during and post Covid-19 restrictions, can be accommodated.
• The role will involve regular domestic and international travel to customer sites (on average 20% to 25% of the time)
