Commonwealth Fusion Systems (CFS) has the fastest, lowest cost path to commercial fusion energy.

CFS collaborates with MIT to leverage decades of research combined with groundbreaking new high-temperature superconducting (HTS) magnet technology. HTS magnets will enable compact fusion power plants that can be constructed faster and at lower cost. ARC will be the first machine to produce electricity from fusion energy, serving as the cornerstone to a new industry. The fusion nuclear and plasma environment of ARC will be a challenging environment for plasma diagnostics and actuators needed for plasma control. The Plasma Control Expert will own the plasma control challenge in ARC, identifying and managing technical gaps and risks. They will work to identify the minimal viable diagnostic and actuator sets that are needed for reliable plasma control. Detailed knowledge of tokamak plasma control theory is critical for this role.
