Job Description

It is entrusted with fostering improved quantity, quality, and dependability of production systems and basic cereals such as maize, wheat, triticale, sorghum, millets, and associated crops through applied agricultural science, particularly in the Global South, through building strong partnerships. This combination enhances the livelihood trajectories and resilience of millions of resource-poor farmers, while working towards a more productive, inclusive, and resilient agrifood system within planetary boundaries. CIMMYT is a core CGIAR Research Center, a global research partnership for a food-secure future, dedicated to reducing poverty, enhancing food and nutrition security, and improving natural resources.

CIMMYT is seeking a proactive, energetic and customer service-oriented professional for the position of Global Wheat Program Administrator to work on the Global Wheat Program of CIMMYT.

The positions will be based at CIMMYT headquarters in Texcoco, near Mexico City, (45 minutes from Mexico City).

Specific duties:

  • Administrative leadership for the Global wheat program:

o Lead the monthly GWP admin meetings.

o Serve as focal point for any administrative changes in the program.

o Work closely with the Program manager to ensure administrative compliance.

  • Assist the Program Manager in gathering and analyzing information related to project management of GWP projects. Including but not limited to the assurance of GWP compliance to the project management minimum standards.
  • Coordinate and lead the organization of all GWP related events including Field days (Obregon and Toluca), as well as all other ad-hoc events as the arise.
  • Serve as the focal point for all procurement activities in GWP:

o Receive and check quality requests before submitting.

o Build strong working relationships with procurement counterparts.

o Ensure follow up on any problematic or delayed requests.

o Keep GWP counterparts informed on a regular basis as to the progress of their requests.

  • Interaction with Clients and Event Management.
  • Provide administrative support for the GWP regional office staff.
  • Serve as administrative focal point for the GWP research stations in Mexico (Obregon and Toluca)
  • Contribute to the visibility of CIMMYT's research, partnerships, and impacts.
  • Perform other tasks and jobs related to project management, as may be required by the project or program manager (s).
  • Lead the submission and oversight of capital expenditure requests including the creation of purchase requests.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration or related field
  • Minimum verifiable experience of 5+ years managing in a similar position.
  • Advanced English level (English C1).
  • Advance knowledge with Microsoft Office.
  • Experience using ERP’s in a daily basis.
  • The selected candidates needs to have Creativity, great Communication, Teamwork and Customer orientation.
