Job Description
The International Maize and Wheat Improvement Center, known by its Spanish acronym, CIMMYT®, is a not-for-profit agricultural research for development organization with partners in over 100 countries.
CIMMYT is seeking a dynamic, self-motivated, and service-oriented professional for the position of Data Analysis Coordinator to lead the design, implementation and deployment of data analysis processes including integrating external data sources and other activities required in the area.
The position is based at CIMMYT’s campus in Texcoco, State of Mexico, located 45 km northeast of Mexico City, Mexico.
Specific Duties:
- Standardizing variables, designing analytical models and routines, and supporting the visualization processes.
- Designs and implements analytical pipelines for agroclimatic and sustainability advisory services.
- Develop and document R and Python routines for large mining agricultural datasets.
- Validate model output with agronomists and other knowledge experts.
- Support the design of data hubs and data cubes in response to context-specific needs.
- Lead a team of at least 3 specialists within CIMMYT.
- Relationship management along CGIAR centers, focal points, and local partners.
- Understand the linkages with other disciplines.
- Provide project-related information, contribute to delivering key milestones and outputs, and other reporting obligations of CIMMYT’s programs, projects, and all sub-contracts.
- Technical backstopping to project staff on effective and timely reporting of project activities
Requirements
- The selected candidate must have an Agricultural data scientist with an undergraduate degree in statistics and an MSc in statistics or data science.
- The selected candidate must have seven years of experience with agricultural data science, and knowledge and skill for implementing analytical pipelines in R and python. These 7 years can be cumulative.
- Frequent contact and coordination of external consultants, staff and regional teams.
- Advanced level in MS Office, specifically in Excel and Power Point.
- Advanced level of English (written and conversational). English will be evaluated, and candidate should score a minimum of C1 on CEFR.
- The selected candidate must exhibit the following competencies: Organization, Critical thinking, Teamwork, Client Orientation, Problem Solving decision making, Negotiation and Conflict resolution.
