Job Description

CIMMYT is seeking a dynamic, self-motivated, and service-oriented professional for the position of Project Assistant track and monitor administrative processes in CIMMYT.


The position is based at CIMMYT’s campus in Texcoco, State of Mexico, located 45 km northeast of Mexico City, Mexico.


Specific Duties:

  • Track and monitor administrative processes relevant for the implementation of the team’s research agenda, to include the approval of agreements, consultancy contracts, and provide Team Leader with actionable recommendations when problems are identified.
  • Support the Team Leader in the monitoring of budgets across various projects and prepare actionable reports to the team on progress.
  • Suggest practical solutions to Team Leader and program administrative staff when problems arise in the implementation of budgets and administrative processes.
  • Support the Team Leader and Mexico-based team members with administrative processes, to include airfare purchases, local transport, and computer support.
  • Lead the preparation of reports in a timely manner to support administrative processes as required by team members (e.g., monthly activity report, credit card report).
  • Support the preparation of consultancy contracts and agreements with collaborators and with program administrative staff.
  • Support team members outside of Mexico in administrative processes that require coordination between headquarters in Mexico and regional offices.
  • Engage with students, interns, and other visitors to ensure they have clear plans of work and access to the resources needed to carry out their assignments.
  • Other activities as requested by Team Leader.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, Management, administration or similar
  • Advanced level of MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, et.)
  • Experience working in internationally funded agricultural or environmental development projects is desirable.
  • Experience in administering logistics associated with applied research projects and programs.
  • Fluency in reading and writing in English. English will be tested, and the candidate should score a minimum of B1 o CEFR.
  • The selected candidate must exhibit the following competencies: Organization, Critical thinking, Teamwork, Client Orientation, Problem-solving Decision-making, Negotiation, and Conflict resolution.
