Job Description
The International Maize and Wheat Improvement Center, known by its Spanish acronym, CIMMYT®, is a not-for-profit agricultural research for development organization with partners in over 100 countries.
CIMMYT is seeking a dynamic, self-motivated, and service-oriented professional for the position of Procurement Specialist-Buyer to work in the Procurement Unit of the Business Services Department of CIMMYT.
The position is based at CIMMYT’s campus in Texcoco, State of Mexico, located 45 km northeast of Mexico City, Mexico.
Specific Duties:
- Review the assigned request for quotations and/or purchase requisitions in the ERP system and subsequent generation of purchase orders for deployment to the selected suppliers, according to the assigned Procurement Categories.
- Conduct sourcing processes and vendor selection via competitive selection or open tendering, either in domestic and/or international market.
- Identify, propose, and develop relations with new suppliers according to Institutional needs.
- Request from the suppliers the documents for registry and/or for contract generation purposes, as needed.
- Negotiate with suppliers the best value for Procurement in terms of cost, quality, and delivery.
- Coordinate with Customs Process Coordinator the purchases of imported materials, to negotiate the best terms of costs, incoterms, safety, and process diplomatic franchises in a timely manner.
- Establish, wherever possible, preferred suppliers.
- Establish an efficient communication channel with internal clients, suppliers, and partners units to ensure efficient and effective completion of the procurement transactions.
- Ensure efficient and prompt completion of the source to pay process of the assigned procurement category.
- Support in monthly and annual closing of purchase orders in the institutional ERP.
- Support and/or lead periodic vendor evaluation process and due diligence process.
- Knowledge of compliance aspects for Procurement related activities.
Maintain the Activities report to enable the proper transactional follow up and monitoring and give visibility to the end users.
Requirements
- The selected candidate must have a Bachelor's Degree in International Trade, Business Administration, Finance or Logistics.
- Experience in sourcing of one of the following Procurement Categories: Laboratory Supplies, Equipment and Services.
- The selected candidate must have at least 5 years of experience in similar roles or positions.
- Knowledge or experience in laboratory equipment, consumables and services is an advantage.
- Advanced level in MS Office, specifically in Excel and Power Point.
- Advanced level of English (written and conversational). English will be evaluated, and candidate should score a minimum of C1 on CEFR.
- The selected candidate must exhibit the following competencies: Organization, Critical thinking, Teamwork, Client Orientation, Problem Solving decision making, Negotiation and Conflict resolution
