The International Maize and Wheat Improvement Center, known by its Spanish acronym, CIMMYT, is a not-for-profit research and training organization with partners in over 100 countries, focused on increasing food security and reducing poverty at an international scale. CIMMYT seeks to recruit young dynamic development professional as ‘training assistant’ to be based in Dhaka, Bangladesh.

Reports to: Training Coordinator, CIMMYT Bangladesh.

Location: Dhaka, Bangladesh with need-based field visits.

Main duties and responsibilities:

  • Assist training coordinator in developing partnership agreements for trainings in different projects of CIMMYT.
  • Work closely with supervisor and the other scientific staff to identify and compile the training needs in different programs of CIMMYT.
  • Coordinate with training providers, vendors, or consultants to ensure training programs are delivered effectively and efficiently.
  • Liaising with the partners, coordinate training schedules and ensure their timely implementation.
  • Assist in developing training materials and resources, such as presentations, handouts, and assessments in Bangla and English.
  • Assist in developing innovative and creative concepts on participatory training approaches including simulation learning, video-based lesson plans, and digital transformation for learning & development.
  • Collect feedback from participants and trainers to evaluate the effectiveness of training programs and identify areas for improvement.
  • Compile and analyze data on training metrics, such as attendance, satisfaction, and performance.
  • Assist in creating reports to summarize training activities and outcomes.
  • Maintain accurate records of training programs, including attendance and completion certificates.
  • Provide administrative support to the training team, such as managing email correspondence, scheduling meetings, and updating training calendars.
  • Willingly and pro-actively perform any other tasks assigned by the supervisor.

Requirements

Academic and professional skills:

  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in a relevant field (Education, Training, Learning & development, development studies).
  • Experience in training coordination, partnership management, or training program management.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational abilities.
  • Excellent writing and speaking skills in both Bangla and English.
  • Ability to keep updated with latest developments and open to learn anything new.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite, particularly Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and manage multiple priorities.
  • Experience with training evaluation and reporting.

Experience:

  • At-least 3-4 years of experience working in NGO/ UN /CGIAR/ research organizations
  • Experienced working in multi-cultural organisations .

    Contract period: The position is for Bangladesh Nationals for an initial fixed-term contract of 1-year with 3 months probationary period, which further employment is subject to performance and the continued availability of funds.
