As a Research Associate in Upstream Development (m/f/d), you will collaborate with us on the latest developments in this field and play a key role in the success of these projects. As a member of the team, you will oversee your own experiments and equipment, collaborating closely with other departments such as Downstream Processing and Molecular Biology.

• Develop and optimise microbial upstream processes for producing structural proteins
• Plan, implement and evaluate scientific experiments in the field of upstream/fermentation processes, and document the results
• Close cooperation with other departments (strain and protein development, downstream processes, technology transfer, etc.)
• Present the results at internal meetings
• Prepare and follow up on experimental facilities (e.g. bioreactors)
• Operate and monitor experiments (e.g. fermentations)
• Plan, commission, maintain, qualify and repair equipment and experimental facilities

• Maintain and further develop laboratory infrastructure

• Successfully completed a university degree in biotechnology, biochemistry, bioengineering, bioprocess engineering, bioprocess technology, or a comparable field of study
• Practical experience (including university) in microbial fermentation and laboratory-scale bioprocess development
• Optional: initial experience in data mining of biological datasets (e.g. proteome or metabolome)
• Very good written and spoken German and English skills
• Strong teamwork and communication skills
• High level of personal responsibility
• Your hands-on mentality, quick comprehension and technical understanding will support you in your daily work
• Profound MS Office knowledge
